At Our Country Garden, our mission is to help gardeners to make the most of their outdoor space by sharing tips and tricks from our own gardening experiences.

Our Story

Welcome to Our Country Garden! My name is Tom, and I’m a self-taught gardener based in the UK.

My passion for gardening began with a simple gift – a small balcony planter filled with herbs, given to my wife and me shortly after we got married. What started as a modest collection of herbs quickly sparked a joint obsession with plants, leading us into the rabbit hole that is gardening.

We slowly started buying more and more plants for the inside of our flat and our small balcony. As our collection grew, we had to learn ways to maximise our limited space, using vertical gardening techniques, hanging planters, and creative pot arrangements.

In the summer of 2023, our gardening adventure took an exciting turn when we moved into a beautiful country cottage with a well-loved, but slightly overgrown garden. Although it’s been a lot of work, we’ve loved transforming our cottage garden into the thriving garden it is today.

Just after we moved into our country cottage we started Our Country Garden so that we could share our tips on making the most of your balcony garden, as well as share our learnings from doing up our country garden. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or you’re just starting out, we’re sure that you’ll find lots of useful information on our site.
